Swingset complete
The swingset is built, and the girls couldn't be happier. Here are some pictures of the Sunday afternoon building....

My handyman hard at work-

He built the slide section first (Eva was very excited!)

Then the swing section (we still need another swing, and some of those rings with a trapeze bar so the gymnastics girls can show off their stuff)

Eva is more of a swing girl, than a slider. It takes her a bit of coaxing to get her to go down, but I'm sure she'll get the hang of it.

Here is the daredevil girl, who has already figured out how to climb up the 4-ft ladder by herself, and madly flings herself down the slide even if no one is at the bottom to catch her (which never ends well, since she doesn't know how to slow herself down yet, she flies another couple feet, and lands hard)

So, there it is! Hours of backyard entertainment, all thanks to my wonderfully, talented woodworking husband. I am so pleased.

Backyard
Our backyard is a disaster. We have a half-built deck on one side, and an old, rotted one awaiting demolition on the other side. There are piles of random rocks everywhere. A planter box to be built, and sod to be laid down.

The final vision is spectacular. More yard for the kids to run and play, a sturdy, private deck to enjoy backyard BBQ's on, a place to plant vegetables (potatoes, carrots and peas!), and, of course, what family backyard is complete without a swingset?

This is the weekend project that Nich (and his little helper, Eva) has taken on:
We picked up the slide last night, and Nich and Eva are out in the truck picking up the lumber right now. Eva is over the moon excited. And, I am eagerly awaiting those spring and summer days, when I can lounge outside while the kids happily play on their new swingset.

Today
Today we blew super big bubbles...

Played with a pile of rocks in the backyard...

Discovered what bubbles taste like...

Attacked the nextdoor neighbours cat with snuggles....

and played on the swing....

I heart sunny mornings and our big backyard.

And my adorable girls.

Gold Medal Girl
First of all, let me just say I was a tad excited to see Vancouver featured on Google's homepage today, in honour of the Olympics. The whole world is going to be watching here over the next two weeks, that is so cool!

And, on to the reason for the post. Eva has graduated from her gymnastics program, 'Tumble Beez'. I took pictures of their last class, and at the end they put on a show for the parents. And, even stood on a podium to recieve their gold medal. But, of course, my camera died for the important part. So, I only got a few pictures of the beginning...

She had so much fun, I've signed her up again. And, for the first time, Kaitlyn gets to join in on the fun, too. We had our first class this week, and, I was not prepared for the intense workout I was going to get chasing her around the gymnasium, jumping with her on the trampoline, climbing out of the foam pit, etc etc. I definitely need to stretch before class next week.

Olympic Fever
This morning, we decorated ourselves in Canada colours- red hoodies, Canadian flag tatoos. And, Eva sported a hat that Nich crocheted for me when we were dating.

This afternoon, we trekked down to Cloverdale to cheer on the Olympic flame! What an awesome experience.

Very blurry, but here it is!!!
Olympic countdown: 4 days!
