Off to Mexico...

Well, the countdown is on, 4 more days until Mexico. I am so looking forward to basking in the warm sunshine, working on my tan, eating lobster and crab legs, and splashing in the pool with my honey. Nich's even been talking about treating us to a "Couples Massage" at the Spa. Eeeeeee.

We are able to go on this trip is because:

1) God is good

2) We bought this house when the GST rate was at 7%, but we moved in when it was 6%. So, the government sent us a huge cheque in the mail to settle the difference. And, what's the fun in putting it towards our mortgage when we can go to Mexico! You only live once, being overly responsible is just no fun.

3) My Mom is willing and stoked to watch Eva for the week. And if Eva was old enough to understand, she would be stoked too cuz she loves Grandma time.

Speaking of my Mom, it's her and my Dad's 31st wedding anniversary today. Happy Anniversary!

And, in pregnancy news, my belly popped out last week (already! hmph.) Now, don't get me wrong, I think prego belly's are cute, but I was really wanting to fit into my swimsuit for Mexico. So, I just tried it on, and it fits, it just doesn't look fabulous...unless I suck in. Oh well. At least it fits.

Oh, and in baby news, my friend Katie had a baby boy this morning! He was 5lbs 12 ounces. And I'm so excited and happy for her. Yay! Babies!! I love Babies!!!

For the past while, when Eva talks, she breaks it down to simple, easy to say, one-syllable words. Examples:

"Na" for Banana
"Tee" for Kitty
"Poo" for Pool

Except yesterday, when she spotted the box of Cheerios, she excitedly mustered all her effort and cried out: "CHEER-YO"

Oh, I was so proud! Sigh, she's growing up.

I got an incredible new camera (yay for Craigslist!). I don't know anything about how to take good pictures, so even though it has ways to control aperature, shutter speed, etc. I'll probably never understand how to use those features. But, fortunately, it takes pretty good pictures on its own. So a dummy like me can still get a good shot. Like this..

So, we're pretty darn tootin' excited about our upcoming addition to the family. We decided we aren't going to find out this time if it's a boy or a girl. It'll be a nice surprise.

I'll be 8 weeks pregnant tomorrow, and all in all I've had morning sickness for about 5 days. A few days ago I found a miracle vitamin: B12. Ever since I started taking it, I began to feel better and better. And then yesterday- no nauseousness at all. Not today either. Sooo, I hope this continues. Because, who wants to be sick in Mexico?? NOT I.

Speaking of Mexico, it looks like we're still going. The hurricane hit the coast as a Category 5- yikes. But, from what I can gather, only tropical storm rains and winds affected our resort area. Which, I think is good news. And, honestly, we don't care if the beach is a little torn up, and there is debris everywhere. There will be good eats, good tanning by the pool, and apparently, the most comfortable beds in Mexico. Sweeet.

Hurricane Dean.

It's a Category 4 hurricane whipping through the Carribean right now. It's expected to gain strength as it heads towards Cancun. Experts say it's likely to be a Category 5 by the time it hits the coast, where our resort is, early Tuesday. Mexican authorities have asked all airlines and travel agencies to not bring any more tourists to Cancun.

We're supposed to be there in 13 days. Go away, hurricane!

Nich and I went on a little getaway in Vancouver this weekend. We stayed at the amazing Sheraton Wall Centre, and were spoiled rotten. When we were checking in, they said they didn't have any rooms available in the class we booked. She did some clicking around on her computer for a minute or so, then said:

"We'll just go ahead and upgrade you to the Club Level."

What magical words, I fell so in love with the hotel and our amazing room I did NOT want to leave. This Club Level room was on the 26th floor, complete with evening Hors D'ouevres, morning breakfast, and 24-hour room service.

They even offered complimentary Starbucks coffee on the Club Level- complete with Starbucks paper cups and sleeves.

I was in heaven.

I can't believe the weekend is over already. Oh, and by the way, the whole purpose of this trip was to see how well Eva did with us away. Because in less than a month, we are leaving her with Grandma for a whole week while we're in Mexico. Well, let's just say she was not sad to see us leave, and she wasn't too excited to see us when we got home either. So, I guess it was a success! Thanks Grandma!

I heard a weird noise

She was still on the stairs

I came to investigate

She proudly looked up at me while still decorating the wall with a pencil she had obviously snatched from my stash downstairs

I took a picture

And studied the drawing

And have come to the conclusion that it is a balloon with a nose, yes?

Nich is gone in Hope for 4 days.

I am bored already.
