Overheard at the Braam House
We often have family dance parties after dinner. A few nights ago, we were rockin' to Justin Bieber's 'Baby' song.

Eva: Mommy, is Justin Bieber a boy or a girl?

Me: A boy

Eva: Then why is a girl singing?

And at lunch last week...

Me: Kaitlyn, what do you want for lunch?

Kaitlyn: Girled Cheese

Me: Good Idea! I think I'm going to a Grilled Cheese too.

Kaitlyn: You can't have one. You're not a Girl. It's GIRLED Cheese.

My Backyard Mountain
It's so beautiful here. And, I love that there are trails that start right in my backyard. And, three minutes up those trails, I look one way to beautiful valley view, and I can stand on the same spot, turn around and see the lake. Divine.

(Look at the bottom centre of the above photo- that's our house with the green roof- it's hard to see since it blends in with the surroundings)

And, a picture of my hiking buddy and I. Marley really is a blessing. These short evening walks are often my only kid-break. It's wonderful to be active, enjoy God's creation, and not have crying kids at my ankles, even if it's just for a short while.

(All these photos were snapped on my iPhone...yep, the sky really is that blue here)

6 months old
I blinked, and he turned 6 months old.

Photobucket

We call him 'Perfect'. That's his nickname, it truly is. We say "Good morning, Perfect" and "You're so cute, Perfect". Because he eats perfect, smiles perfect, goos and coos perfect, snuggles perfect...now if I could only get him to sleep perfect I'd have it made.

He's 16.5 pounds, and as tall as most 12-month olds. Long and lean, just like my other two kidlets.

He lOves people. If he catches your eye, he will smile, wiggle and coo his way into you holding him. He also is a Momma's boy, when I'm away for a couple hours, and he sees me again, he squeezes me so tight when I come and grab him. And, then he opens his slobbery mouth wide, and drool pours out of his mouth as he sucks on my cheek, then my nose. Oh, those baby kisses. Priceless.

I swear he said Mama yesterday. It was actually more like "mamamamamamaaaaa" when I went to put him down for a nap. Oh, he's stolen my heart.

He eats banana chunks, Mum Mums, rice cereal, oatmeal, chicken noodle soup....really anything I've offered him, he has happily inhaled.

He is almost sitting. You know, he sits for a few seconds, then falls over. It's cute. I bet in a week or two, he'll have it down.

I carry him everywhere. I guess because he's my last baby, and he's so snuggly, I just want to. He loves hanging out in the mei-tai when we hike the mountain with Marley-bear (which is almost everyday). He pretty much likes to be anywhere except his car seat...which he has grown out of, so we'll put the next-size-up one in soon, and hopefully that will change that.

Tucker is the perfect last baby. I love him to bits and pieces, and he makes our family feel complete.

Happy half-year birthday, baby boy!

friday phone dump

I figured out how to upload photos to my blog right from my phone! I'll add description of these photos as soon as I'm at my computer, but here's my week in pictures.

-Kaitlyn stuffed a banana peel in my printer- my invoice didn't like that very much.
-Tucker is such a happy baby! He's rockin' the tummy time and is rolling both ways.
-Kaitlyn asks for her picture taken quite often.
-Tucker is sitting in his high chair with us at dinner, eating finger foods like Cheerios, pieces of squash, rice crackers, etc. Apparently, pureed foods are old school, and we're supposed to introduce mashed up foods with texture. He's loving it.
-Kaitlyn asked me to do her hair in pigtails, and requested Barbie, stick-on earrings.
-We had a McDonalds date on Friday at lunch, after our big Walmart shop of the month.
-We went out to Denny's and Eva cleaned her plate, pretty much the first time ever for that!
-Here's a pic of Tucker enjoying his very first bite of a Baby MumMum. He's SO big, why does time fly so fast?

My Week in Pictures
(AKA iPhone Photo Dump) Here we go:

<span class=Photobucket">

I baked brownies - Kaitlyn and BooBoo hangin' in the (under-construction) ensuite - Marley likes to sleep by her food bowl just in case any food happens to appear - Sky/clouds here are beautiful - Kaitlyn and BooBoo - Baby sportin' a mohawk - Eva lost her SECOND tooth - Double blended Mocha Frappuccino for my husband - Eva and Daddy enjoying the hot tub - Marley asleep on my slippered foot - Kaitlyn playing at the park after her first day of "Library School" - Kaitlyn and Tucker on the couch - I found Kaitlyn napping with BooBoo after hours of hunting for him EVERYWHERE (including re-hiking the mountain to look for him), and she knew where he was all along...sigh.

I can't believe it's October. I know, everyone says that, but I'm for REAL. I thought my iPhone calendar was broken when it said "Oct 1"...I went in to my settings...couldn't figure it out. Until I finally realized the phone was not broken at all, it was in fact my brain that was broken.

Some highlights from this week include:

-I woke up this morning at 7:00am, trying unsuccessfully to get Tucker back to sleep. Wandered out of the bedroom with a baby cradled in my arms, into the kitchen where I found my husband stirring up hot chocolate for the girls that were downstairs playing legos. My eyes were then drawn to the stove where there was already chicken stock simmering for supper, and then I noticed my pup, passed out on her blanket- which was highly unusual, because she is always uncontrollably hyper in the morning. Upon inquiring what was wrong with the dog, Nich casually said that he took her for a morning jog on the mountain until she was worn out.

Yes, I am married to Superman.

-Today, in the late afternoon, Nich was in the kitchen making his famous chicken noodle soup, and I was sitting on the floor of the living room, with a guitar in my lap, a baby laying beside me, a puppy gnawing on her bone at my feet, and my daughters on their little guitars and shakers, strumming worship songs. Yahh, at those moments, I know I am blessed.

-And, my personal favourite, even though all of the above warms my heart, a conversation I overheard in the girls bedroom last week.

Nich: Eva, can you put away your clothes in the hamper? Mommy cleaned your room and does your laundry, the least you can do is put away your own dirty clothes.

Kaitlyn: Yah, Mommy does a lot!! She made breakfast and lunch and dinner, too!

Mmhmm, that one still makes me smile. A very awesome thing for a little 3 year old to say. I hope you are all doing well. And, that you are finding a lot to smile about in your life, too.
