wonderful weekend
I love life. It's fun. Yesterday, Nich and I went to Science World to check out the larger-than-life LEGO exhibit, while Eva chilled with the Grandparents. Today, us gurls (my mom, eva, and i) headed south of the border to the wonderful Bellis Fair so I could get my American back-2-skool shopping in. I know i'm not going back to skool. But, it's an excuse to score a new fall wardrobe. While we shopped, the men (my daddy-0 and nich) went for a hike from Capilano to Cypress. Quite a hike. That's why i chose to shop.

And, our weekend gets even more exciting, i know it's hard to believe. Our townhouse now has...drumroll please...a FRONT DOOR!!!!!! And windows. Crazy, i know. We're pretty stoked as well.

And to top it all off, Eva just sipped some Tim Horton's Iced Cappucino from my straw. We sat in awe and amazement. Then poured some juice in a cup, stuck a straw in it, and VOILA..she sucked it all down. I think she just broke some baby record for first-time straw-sipping.

eva's first bike ride
Eva went on her first ever bike ride last night. Jen gave us this rad stroller that doubles as a bike trailer. So, last nite, we decked eva out in biking gear (check out the gigando helmet!), tucked eva in all snug in her stroller, and biked around the city.

Aaron Pao-An Update
Ok, here it is folks. The much in-demand update on how the adoption process is coming along for baby Aaron.
The first court hearing is scheduled for September 19th. This is the first step in paperwork being processed in Taiwan. There are 2 court dates after that. We are still unsure when he will be able to come home with Nate and Christi, but they are hoping and praying for mid-late October.
Aaron is doing fantabulous. He is 6 months old now, and at the last weigh-in he was 13.7lbs an 25 inches long (or high, or however you say it).
Alright peeps, more updates in September.

laundry
So, yesterday, i hung up my clothes to dry like every other day. I set the dry rack out on the patio, so my clothes would bake nice and dry in the sun. And then i forgot them out there. Big deal, right? Well, we live on the ground level right by lots of shrubs. And what happens on Tuesday nights? The sprinklers go off and water all the shrubs...and our patio. And last night...my clothes. oh my poor sopping wet clothes.

i forgot kleenex

Many congratulations to Julie and Jake Carriere! They were married today, on a beautiful, sunny Saturday. And the wedding was gorgeous, and Julie was such a glowing, beautiful bride.
I always cry at weddings, and this particular wedding was no different. Except this time, i was supposed to sing a song during the signing of the registry...and i forgot kleenex. So, there i was, sniff-sniffling...trying soo hard not to get emotional, so i could actually sing. And man, everwhere i would look, people were teary-eyed or crying. But, i made it thru, and i think the song went well.

So some more ultra-exciting, so-happy-i-could-cry news: we inherited a barbecue! (thanks Mandee and Adam!) And for the first time in our married life, we bbq'd up a storm on our patio. It was mouth-wateringly (i know that's not a word) delicious.

Umm, what else is new? Lots. We went and looked at the townhouse today, and of course it looks amazing. But for the first time, the security guard wouldn't let us go upstairs in our house. Oh well. I figured that wouldn't last forever. Maybe next time their will be a different security guard, and we'll try our luck again.

Ummmm, Eva has 2 more teeth! They are her front, uppers. And the lucky Dykstra's were babysitting when they broke thru. Thank goodness for infant tylenol.

Ok, now you are all up-to-date on the life of the Braam's. Happy Saturday!

the caffeine database
i am super tired. and i am officially off coffee. so no caffeine jolt for me. the little innocent looking baby on the left is the reason i am so tired. i don't know if it was bad dreams, teething, or what- but she was awake half the nite making this weird high-pitched groaning noise. poor kid.
a while back, when i was going thru the withdrawal phase of my coffee-quiting, i did a little research on how much caffeine is in a Starbucks coffee compared to something like a pepsi. so here are the stats from the caffeine database.

Pepsi 38 mg caffeine
Red Bull 80 mg caffeine
Nestea Iced Tea 26 mg caffeine
Mountain Dew 55 mg caffeine
Tea (imported) 60 mg caffeine
and now..drumroll please... Starbucks Grande Coffee 500 mg

I know that Starbucks pumps more caffeine into their coffee, but seriously, that's a lot! Anywho, i'm on decaf now, which has a whopping 10 mg of caffeine in it. Not quite enuf to wake me up. But, nevertheless, i'm addicted to the taste of Starbucks.

it's official
eva is crawling. she only does it if she sees something she wants across the room- so i still have a week or so before i will be going crazy trying to keep her out of random kitchen cupboards and dvd collections. (wow that was a run-on sentence) but anywayz, its so cute. i love it.

i really have to get on the baby-proofing boat. i have put it off, and put it off. but eva is already turning on the stereo (i think she is a backstreet boys fan at heart- cuz she's turned on their cd at least 3 times) she is also crawling to her toy basket (which is as tall as her) and dumps all the toys out. yah, i even have those cheesey plastic cupboard latches for our kitchen cupboard doors. but i've yet to pull out the screwdriver and install them. oh, who am i kidding, i'll be getting nick to install them.

wow, as i speak, eva just pulled the stereo volume knob off of the stereo. Case in point. i need to get on the baby-proofing boat.
