(Also, I got my hair cut a few weeks ago, and my hair stylist taught me how to do the loose, airy wave. I went out and got a curling iron, and I'm starting to get the hang of it. Doesn't look anything like how she does it, but getting there....)

The Nursery
Designing a baby boy nursery was so much fun! A little difficult being that I had pretty much no decorating budget to work with...but we re-used, got creative and, well, Nich is pretty much amazing. And, I have to say, I feel pretty accomplished pulling this off on a dime.
The details:
Wainscoting- Nich installed this beautiful stuff almost 2 years ago, when we moved in (side note: aren't you proud of us? living somewhere for more than a year? a record!)
Crown Moulding- Nich had this leftover from a job, yay, so pretty! And, he installed it so fast, he's my Superman.
Box Valance- Nich built a wooden frame, stapled foam around it, then stapled fabric around it. I painted some oversized buttons with leftover blue paint. The fabric was cut from some curtains left here by the previous owners.
Crib, Bedding, etc- We've had this since Eva was born
Big Star- Ohh, I've loved these since I spotted them in a Pottery Barn catalogue. So, I was tickled when I saw these at Michaels for $7. Score! A little chocolate spray paint, and voila! The room is now stylin'.
Frames with Letter Initials- Yep, we are (probably) naming our boy something that starts with a T. So, there's your hint. There are two names we have it narrowed down to, and they both start with that letter. We are leaning towards one, but we want to meet the little guy first. Anyhow, this project was almost free, too. I spent a couple dollars on fancy paper at Michaels, and had these Ikea frames lying around the house. I downloaded a font I liked, then we traced, cut and glued. Easy peasy.
Pillow on Rocking Chair- my Mom sewed some new adorable fabric over an old pillow we had. You can't see it, but it's really cute, with trucks and cars all over it. Thanks Mom!

Big wooden truck on dresser- Thrift store score, $1.99 baby!
Knit blanket on rocking chair- My sweet Grandma made this for me last year, for Christmas. I adore it, and since the colours match this room perfectly, this will be it's home for awhile. I'm looking forward to snuggling up with this blanket, and cozily rocking a newborn on this chair (also given to us by her, when Eva was born).
Change table- I couldn't fit it in the picture, but Nich built this when Kaitlyn was born. It was pink, so we re-painted it chocolate brown, and bought a soft, fleecy chocolate cover for the changing pad.
And, that's the room! I am so thankful that I have such a handy guy as my husband. And, I'm tickled that with a little imagination, some clearance bin scrounging and a lot of recycling, we created a welcoming, warm nursery on a budget.

Best friends
I am spoiled rotten. I have two beautiful, sweet-natured girls that have become best friends. And, watching them be the best of friends brings such joy to my heart.
Yesterday, I had the craving to spring clean, so I spent the morning purging, organizing and cleaning. And, the girls? Played happily together in their room the entire time. Eva would organize games like Hide & Seek, or Jump on the Pillows, and Kaitlyn would join in. She even takes Kaitlyn potty. And, she'll talk to Kaitlyn so gently and kindly, and say:
"Katy-kins honey, it's time to go potty, ok? Come here, honey."
And, then she helps her. Yes, I am spoiled. I love how Eva calls her honey and 'mommies' her. And, all this independence and getting along could not have come at a better time. I just hope it lasts!
Oh, I've got a picture for you. In the middle of dusting, I hear two cute little voices calling me:
"Mommy, come here! Bring your camera! Take a picture of us, we're being cute!"
Haha, well, OK! So, I did. Here they are in Kate-kin's bed "being cute", playing the game 'let's take a nap'.
So adorable. Also, the best game ever. They were under the covers together for at least a 1/2 hour, giggling and talking like little girls do. The sweetness!
In other news, I'm 37 weeks, and feeling relatively good. I had my midwife appointment this morning, and all is well. Nothing new to report! I've gained 2 lbs since my appointment a couple weeks ago, so I'm right on track. Total weight gain thus far: 28 lbs. The baby sounded good, nice strong heartbeat of 160 bpm. Oh, and my belly is measuring small (just like I did with both girls, too). I'm measuring 34 cms at 37 weeks (usually cms coincide with weeks), so the midwife thinks this will be another smaller baby. Hooray!

I can't put my camera down
I am SO loving this warmer weather. When we get small pockets of sunshine (or at least, no rain) in the afternoon, I send the kids out to play in the backyard. They are having lots of fun on the swings and playing on the 'deck' of the slide. Their own little up-high playhouse. Here they are in it...
And, Eva, my goodness, I knew this day would come, but it's near impossible to get a picture of her without giving me this ridiculous look while saying "Cheese" half-heartedly. I snapped this one when she wasn't looking.
And, in pregnancy news, I'm 35 weeks, feeling pretty good (the toothache barely bothers me anymore, thank goodness!), the baby has officially fully dropped (I was partially dropped for a couple weeks there, and now it's the full deal, my belly looks ridiculously low- as was pointed out to me a couple days ago when a lady informed me that it looked like my baby was going to drop out any moment), and I am absolutely beyond excited to meet our new little bundle of joy.

A Quiet Weekend
This weekend it has just been Kaitlyn and I are around the house (Nich and Eva flew up to Terrace). It's actually been tons of fun. With only one kid around, I find I have time to do neat things, like break out my camera!! And edit photos in Lightroom!

We also went out to lunch at De Dutch, took a Skytrain adventure with Grandma, played at Indigo Kids, built Lego cities, and played polly pockets. Kaitlyn has been loving all the attention, and I'm enjoying one-on-one time with her (it's a rare treat!).

What Not to Wear
I had just gotten dressed for the day, when Kaitlyn walks up to me and the following conversation takes place:
K: Mom, don't wear thaaaat.
Me: Why not? I thought it was cute.
K: No, not cute.
Me: Well, it's the only clean thing that fits.
K: Wear the pink shirt.
Me: I can't, it doesn't fit over my belly.
K: You can't wear that, wear the pink one.
Me: (holds the pink shirt up, to show it doesn't cover my belly) See? It doesn't cover my belly.
K: Oh, I seeee.
Ha, what a turkey! I can't believe my 2-year old has an opinion on what I wear.

Pictures and an update
Well, third trimester exhaustion has finally (fully) set in. I can barely keep my eyes open! And, I'm starting to grow out of my maternity clothes, too. Good thing I only have six(-ish) weeks to go.
There are about one million things I could update you on, but I'm too sleepy to make coherent sentences. So, I'll post more pictures...
Ok, it took so long for the photos to upload, I had a quick cat-nap. So, now I have a little energy to write a few random updates on our life:
-Eva and Kaitlyn started gymnastics a couple weeks ago. Eva is proud to be in the "Advanced Tumble Beez" class, and teases Kaitlyn (lovingly) for being just a little "Tumble Bug". Both girls are doing great in their classes. I really wish I could get Katy-kins on video, because she is by far the tiniest person there, and it's just so funny to see such a teeny person do crazy things, like the rings and the bars.
-Nich and Eva are heading up to Terrace tomorrow. Eva has been counting down the days for weeks now. And keeps saying things like, "You better hang out with me lots now. You're going to miss me while I'm in Terrace" and "You should tuck me in on Wednesday night Mom. Because you aren't going to be able to tuck me in for four days after that" and when I put the kabosh on her cartoon-watching, she smiles and says "That's fine. I'm going to watch tv ALL DAY at Grannie's house". Ha!
-Kaitlyn has decided she doesn't like to be kissed anymore (fortunately she still likes to snuggle). Now, when I peck her cheek or her head, she pulls back and says "Peeee-yoo!"
-I adore how well the girls are sharing a room. And, I wish I could put a video camera in there to see exactly how going-to-sleep time time works. They giggle and chat so loudly, and then randomly it goes silent. I wonder if Eva just announces that it's time to go to sleep and Kaitlyn complies. Regardless, it's going well, and I always tell Nich that it warms the cockles of my heart (haha, i love that saying).
-As I've been typing, I gave Eva a pen and some computer paper to draw on. Here's the picture she just drew.
That's our family (I love that she knows how to write 'Mom and Daddy' now!) And, yep, that's the baby in the picture, too! She's really excited to be a family of five :)
