Sun flare
I have always enjoyed taking pictures of my kidlets. But, you've probably noticed, that in the last month or two, I decided to take some time and actually learn how to use my beautiful beast of a camera. I've been reading my camera manual, perusing photography blogs, and gleaning tips of the trade from photographer friends.

A few days ago, I asked a friend how she achieves a beautiful, sun-bathed look in some of her photos. She gave me some tips, and encouraged me to take Eva out and give it a try.

So, I did.

I love having photographer friends. Thanks for the tips, Danielle!

Also, would you like to know a couple secrets? The beautiful dress she's wearing- I scored at a garage sale for 75cents. And. the "field" she's in, is actually a small, overgrown house lot a few blocks from our house. It's neighbouring a horse farm, with lovely, rolling green hills. She kept pointing through the fence, wanting to go play in the real field....

Anyhow, I'm just packing up my kids and heading out the door to Million Smiles Park in Lynden. We're meeting the cousins!

Happy weekend!

Eva
I know I'm biased, and that all Mom's think this about their kids...

but this girl's beauty blows me away.

And she's not just beautiful on the outside, but on the inside as well. She is sweet, caring and gushes out love on her Dad and I. She is constantly telling her Daddy that he's her "hereo" (rhymes with 'cheerio'- it's her way of saying 'hero'. it's so cute, i can't correct her.) And, she told her Daddy to write this in my Mother's Day card:

Happy Mothers Day-giving (sort of like Thanksgiving I assume :)
And cotton candy for Mommy too and I love you and sing some songs and love you. And remembering her for the first day of school and so much. And that's it.
Love Eva

She also entered a colouring contest at our local grocery store for Mother's Day. She had to draw a picture of herself and I, and then describe why she had the best Mom in the world. This is what she said:

'Because she cuddles and snuggles. And loves me. And mops the floor very nicely.'

I'm not so sure what I think about the last part. At first I laughed, because it was cute in all its randomness. But, now I'm wondering if I clean the house too much. Will she look back and remember a Mom that snuggled half the time and cleaned the other half? And is that ok?

But, I guess most of us Mothers second-guess ourselves, wondering if we're getting it all wrong. And, then we look at our kids, and how wonderful they are, and we have to conclude that maybe, just maybe, we're doing something right.

And, that's my insight for the day. My very lame day, may I add. It involved being locked out of the house with my girls for half the day, and then everything after that was just as lame. So, yes, I am looking forward to tomorrow.

Actually, I am looking forward to ten minutes from now, when I will have the kids tucked in bed and my dear, sweet husband comes home with our Dairy Queen Buster Bars. Because chocolate and ice cream makes everything better.

Coffee Happy Hour

I should've told you sooner- but better late than never.

Starbucks Frappuccinos' are half off during happy hour (3-5pm) every day until May 16th! Woo!

And, if you're counting calories, not to worry, a Tall Mocha Frappuccino Light has only 100 calories. Yes, you read that right, 100 calories. Double woo!

Goodbye Muffin-top
I am so happy with the results of following the healthy eating plan for two weeks. I feel great and I have more energy. I'll definitely be adding more fruits and veggies to our daily eating around here. Also, a big surprise for me was that I thought a muffin-top was a permanent addition to anyone that had gone through pregnancy. But, I am happy to say, that mine is almost gone. And, it comes as a complete surprise to me, since the eating plan was so similar to what we usually eat anyways. So, with minimal effort, I've seen a big return. I am so happy to properly fit into all my old clothes again. I am officially back to my pre-pregnancy weight!

Let's see...what else is new. Eva has informed me that she is packing up her 'sleep bag' and going to Caleb's (in Summerland). I asked her how she was going to get there. And, she told me it would take her a few hours, but she would get there, and it would be fine. Ha!

I've been really enjoying life with my girls lately. They are so sweet. I walked in to find them playing in a mountain of stuffed animals the other day.

Kaitlyn is definitely acting two lately. She is getting very opinionated- which I find mostly funny. But, I've also decided to hold off on potty training as long as this attitude keeps up, because there is no arguing with a two year old who adamantly declares "NO" when you ask if she wants to sit on the potty. The new plan is to commence potty training boot camp in June (after our Palm Springs trip). But, we'll see...
